The Ten Count: 10 “One’s to Watch” in Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling has seen some positive signs of resurgence and growth alongside Pro Wrestling’s recent boom. The quality of production and wrestling has clearly improved with the Anthem takeover and to go with that, Impact has some top talent that could attract the more appreciative of wrestling fanatics.

In this Ten Count we take a closer look at some of the stars on the Impact roster who look likely to take their wrestling talents global sooner rather than later.

10:Davey Richards

Despite having already accrued many air miles on his ventures within wrestling and notably amassing gold for fun with his on-and-off best friend/tag team partner come worst rival, Eddie Edwards as The Wolves (previously American), he still has plenty to offer the industry. The 5”8 size of the man does not hinder his ability to endure the hardest of hits, and his all-round style is a pleasure to watch.

Having joined the Impact roster in early-2016, Sienna has a Knockouts Championship reign to boast of already, and as number 10 ranking in the PWI Female 50, she is clearly one of the top female talents in American Pro Wrestling. The 5’10 powerhouse has a women’s title unification match on Slammiversary 15’s stacked card.

8:Sonjay Dutt

Spells in and out of Impact have led a fairly uncertain career to a steadier place now for Sonjay Dutt, the current X-Division champion. The high demand for the Mumbai man comes as the big American promotions look to capitalise on the Indian market – Dutt reportedly rejected WWE and ROH in favour of Impact. We will no doubt be seeing more of “The Original Playa from the Himalaya” very soon.

7:Eddie Edwards

The former American Wolf has worked under some of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world, including the WWE in an NXT Tag Team Title Match against The Ascension in December 2013. The Bostonian has recently been ski-lifted to the top of Impact, with a World Heavyweight Title reign from last October until Impact’s Genesis show in February 2017. His success has since been prevented by his former tag partner, Davey Richards, with the two meeting in a mixed-tag Full Metal Mayhem match each partnered by their wrestling wives at Slammiversary XV on July 2nd.

ITV’s World of Sport World Champion is one of the most entertaining wrestling talents in the industry. Unrivalled humour and in-ring talent helps form the Scotsman’s range of performing attributes which have assisted him in his rise to stardom. Still yet to reach the age of 30, Grado has plenty of years ahead of him in Pro Wrestling and you’d be silly not to add him to your list of people to watch if you haven’t already.

5:Trevor Lee

Trained in his hometown of Cameron, North Carolina by the Hardy Boyz, the 23 year old Trevor Lee is a two-time X-Division champion having only kicked off his mainstream independent career in 2014. Despite looking forward to years ahead of him, he performs with the wit and tact of an already established professional wrestler. He is most certainly one to look out for in the future.

Arguably the most established name on this Ten Count, Ethan Carter III is certainly the most well-known Impact Wrestler on this list. His inclusion as ‘One to Watch’ is justified by his creativity as a talker as well as his solid in-ring work. He’s always involved in engaging and exciting feuds, and it’s only a matter of time before EC3 gets some larger-scale mainstream exposure.

3:Andrew Everett

Formerly a member of The Helms Dynasty along with Trevor Lee and Gregory Shane Helms, Everett has made an impression on Impact’s X-Division with high-flying flair – verifying his nickname ‘The Apex of Agility’. Having been impressing pro-wrestling fans since his first televised match as a 12-year old boy, Everett ranked #156 in the PWI 500 in 2016 placing near but above Braun Strowman, Colt Cabana and Joey Ryan.

Well known before her time with Impact Wrestling as Courtney Rush, Rosemary debuted as part the destructive Decay stable. The current Impact Knockouts Champion has a proven ability to perform the eerier roles in entertainment – her first successful acting role came in Jesse T. Cook’s Monster Brawl alongside Kevin Nash, Jimmy Hart and five-time Fighters Only Magazine’s World MMA Awards Referee of the Year, Herb Dean.

1:Dezmond Xavier

With increasing appearance numbers on the independent scene over the past two years, more wrestling fans are witnessing the talent of Dezmond Xavier. A regular on CZW shows, this supremely athletic star has started to give fans their money’s worth on Impact. One word can perfectly describe what you will see when you look at this man’s highlights – potential.
